Cross Country Ski Programs at GNOAC (Winter 2026)

Jackrabbits (Programs for Kids 3-9 yrs old)

Jackrabbits introduces kids aged three to nine to the joy of cross-country skiing. (We also offer programs for kids 10 to 14—see below.)

JR registration for the 2026 winter season will open on October 18, 2025.

They’ll learn the basics in a fun atmosphere that includes games, treats and scavenger hunts. Plus every week has a different theme, like the always-popular crazy hat day.

The Jackrabbit program will  run every Saturday from early January to early March from 10am to 12pm (there is usually no JR program on Family Day weekend).

The program is beloved by kids and the volunteer coaches who manage it, including members of the Georgian Nordic Junior Racing Team, who share tips and their experiences in races.

Jackrabbit Levels

The Jackrabbit program is broken out into three levels:

Bunnies, for children aged three to six. Parental involvement is required.

Levels 1, 2 and 3 teach classic-skiing technique and don’t require parental accompaniment. If your child is new to Georgian Nordic, don’t worry; we’ll work with you to place them where they’ll have the most fun and greatest success.

The Learn to Ski group (LTS) is designed for children who have little to no skiing experience (between aged 7-10).

Level 4 introduces kids to the fun and fast discipline of skate skiing.

Programs for kids who have completed Jackrabbit Levels

Track Attack is for kids aged 10 to 14 who wish to ski with a group (in skate or classic technique) recreationally. Track Attack runs as part of the Jackrabbit program on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Racing Rabbits is for kids born between 2011 and 2016 (U10-U14) who wish to fine-tune their skills and train for competition. This program is for experienced skiers who are proficient in both classic and ski technique. Racing Rabbits has twice-weekly practices: after school on Wednesdays and as part of Jackrabbits program on Saturday mornings. Parental involvement is required.

Registration for the 2026

To register your child for Jackrabbits, Racing Rabbits or Track Attack, follow these steps:

  1. Georgian Nordic Annual Pass: All skiers in our children’s and youth programs must be Georgian Nordic Annual Pass holders for insurance purposes.
  2. Jackrabbit, Track Attack and Racing Rabbits: Once you’ve purchased Georgian Nordic annual pass for your child, you can register for the programs themselves, also through our transaction partner, Zone 4. Note: Parents who plan to ski with their young children, who are part of the "Bunny" or "Level 1" groups, do not need to purchase adult annual passes to participate. Instead, they will be offered free day passes (for use on program days only).

Jackrabbit Rentals: Stay tuned for a for a date when we will hold a rental night in the Burrow, (GNOAC's chalet). Burrow Staff will be on hand to help you outfit your skier(s) with rentals for the season - to be signed out each program day. The cost will be $75 per JR skier. (Rentals are free of charge for group volunteers).

Georgian Nordic aims to make cross-country skiing available to everyone. If costs are an issue, please email our coaching staff at jackrabbit@georgiannordic.com

If you have any additional questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact info@georgiannordic.com

Volunteers Needed!

While we hope to run the full program, our ability to do so is dependent on the number of coaches we have. If we must cancel or fold a group level due to a lack of volunteers, your annual pass and program fees can be available for refund. We will work with you to determine what is best for your family if this should occur.

If you are interested in trying coaching this year, please reach out to jackrabbit@georgiannordic.com, or tick the box during registration.
You can be a lead coach, or a co-coach. We offer training, session plans (check out this list of games and activities), free ski rental for Jackrabbit program days, post-ski hot chocolate, and a lot of gratitude!
